Paul Trijbits
Paul was the inaugural head of the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, establishing key initiatives such as the digital shorts programme and backing films that won prestigious awards (E.g. Bloody Sunday, Magdalene Sisters) showcased new talent (e.g. Bullet Boy) and broke new ground (e.g. This is not a Love Song).
An established and successful producer before joining the UK Film Council, Paul joined Ruby Films in 2006 where he has continued to produce and executive produce outstanding independent films and television films and serials, most recently Andrea Arnold’s ‘Fish Tank’, winner of the Best British Film at the BAFTA’s.
Ruby is in (post) production on Tamara Drewe from the bestselling graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, with Stephen Frears (‘The Queen’) directing and on ‘Chatroom’, which is directed by Hideo Nakata (‘Ringu’ & ‘The Ring II’). In pre-production and scheduled for production in March 2010 is ‘Jane Eyre’ for Focus and BBC Films, adapted by playwright Moira Buffini and directed by Cary Fukunaga (‘Sin Nombre’).
For TV Ruby have produced Oliver Hirschbiegel’s single drama ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’ for BBC2 (winner of the Sundance Directing and Screenwriting awards and the IFTA best Single Drama award) which attracted a solid audience of 2.2million, the serial ‘Small Island’ (EP) adapted from Andrea Levy’s bestselling novel, which attracted 5 million viewers on BBC one, and ‘Temple Grandin’ for HBO starring Claire Danes.
