Laura Mackie
Laura joined the BBC in 1982 and worked as a script editor, producer and executive producer on a variety of programmes including “Making Out”, “Casualty”, “Out of the Blue”, “Born to Run” and “Undercover Heart”.
She left in 1997 to join LWT as Deputy Controller of Drama where her work included “London’s Burning”, “The Knock”, the acclaimed serial “Forgotten”, “Hero of the Hour” and “A Christmas Carol”.
Laura returned to the BBC and became Head of Drama Serials in 2001. During this time she oversaw a diverse output including “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet”, “Cutting It”, and the period adaptations “Daniel Deronda”, “Charles II”, “North & South” and “To The Ends of the Earth”.
She has also overseen “State of Play”, “Canterbury Tales”, “The Long Firm”, “Blackpool”, “The Line of Beauty”, and the BAFTA award winning serial “Bleak House”.
Other projects include “Silent Witness”, “Waking The Dead”, “Judge John Deed”, “Dalziel & Pascoe” as well as the highly regarded one-off dramas, “Flesh & Blood” and “Hawking”.
In April 2006, Laura joined ITV as Controller of Drama Commissioning and became Director of Drama in May 2007. Her commissions include Kingdom, Primeval, The Fixer, Moving Wallpaper, Lost in Austen, Wuthering Heights & thrillers: The Children, Place of Execution, Whitechapel, Unforgiven, Above Suspicion plus single films ‘My Boy Jack’ and ‘Englishman in New York’.
