After a successful career as a freelance director across drama and documentaries, Justin founded a history specialist indie, Hardy Pictures, in 2005, winning an RTS for the company’s first film, Trafalgar Battle Surgeon and two BAFTA nominations for the second, A Harlot’s Progress. Since then, he has directed and executive-produced the multi-award winning Relief of Belsen and series City of Vice for Channel 4, and the international award nominated Heist, and The Saint and the Hanged Man for BBC.
At the start of 2008 Justin signed a major investment deal with BBC Worldwide and Left Bank Pictures. He also won a Broadcast Award for Best Single Drama, a BAFTA nomination for Specialist Factual and a fourth RTS award. Over the past year, Justin has directed 1066 for c4, whose online game has had over 6 million plays, capitalising on the success of The BAFTA winning Bow Street Runners. He has directed the BAFTA nominated Spanish Flu: The Forgotten Fallen, and exec produced True Horror for c5.
