Touchpaper Television is an independent production company. Part of the RDF Media Group, it was founded by Managing Director, Rob Pursey in 2001.
Rob was a script editor on The Bill for two and a half years. In June 1995 he joined Central Television to work on the development of in-house drama including, amongst others, Kavanagh QC, Inspector Morse and Cadfael. Rob was co-creator and Executive Producer of highly acclaimed series The Vice, starring Ken Stott, for ITV1. He also Executive Produced various one-off dramas and both series of Big Bad World by Nick Martin.

Touchpaper Television’s first serial, Ny-Lon, starring Rashida Jones and Stephen Moyer was written by Simon Burke and transmitted on C4 in 2005.
Julian Fellowes Investigates A Most Mysterious Murder, a series of five real-life period whodunits, produced by Clare Alan, was broadcast on BBC1 in 2005.
Rocket Man, a six part series co-produced with Coastal Productions, was shown on BBC1 in autumn 2005 starring Robson Green.
The Queen’s Sister, a single drama for C4, was broadcast in November 2006, written by Craig Warner, with Kath Mattock producing and directed by Simon Cellan-Jones.
Last Rights – a three part political thriller for C4 by Clive Bradley, was directed by Bill Anderson and produced by Philip Trethowan.
The Best Man – a two-part thriller by Russell Lewis was broadcast on ITV1 in 2006.
Sold! A 6 part comedy drama by Steve Coombes, produced by Philip Trethowan, was broadcast on ITV in 2007.
City of Vice – a five part historical crime drama for C4 co-produced with Hardy and Sons, starring Ian McDiarmid and Iain Glen, broadcast in 2008.
Three series of Single-Handed written by Barry Simner were broadcast on RTE from 2007 to 2009, and subsequently on ITV in August 2009. Six further instalments, for RTE and ITV1, are currently in production.
Following the success of the pilot broadcast on BBC3 in 2008, a 6 part series of the comedy drama Being Human written by Toby Whithouse and starring Russell Tovey aired in early 2009. The second 8 part series is currently being broadcast on BBC3, with a third series already in production.
Murderland – a three part thriller starring Robbie Coltrane for ITV1, shown Autumn 2009.
Wild Decembers, adapted from her own novel by Edna O’Brien, 1 x 90’ film for RTE is due for transmission in 2010.
Coming Up - 7 x 30 minute films by emerging filmmakers is currently in production for C4, due for transmission later this year.
Touchpaper currently has a number of projects in development with the major channels including in the USA.
